Message from Rebel

Thanks guys.
@ziggy Cheers for the suggestion but space isn't the problem, I have a dedicated server with 1.5 TB of free space, It's the upload, my download is fine (18 Mbps) but my upload is only 1.19 Mbps and my computer is never idle for the time it would take to upload, I'm either using it for work or for gaming and when I'm not doing those, I'm usually downloading TV or movies or streaming Netflix etc.

You may be wondering why I haven't upgraded my connection! well, I looked into that again last month when my contract was up, I'm with O2 as was, taken over by Sky now. I was looking into fibre but most providers have a download limit of around 40 Gig, I download around 500 Gig in a month, what with games and software etc. Sky is truly unlimited.

But more importantly, I'm an avid on-line multi-player gamer and what is of most significance to me is ping! Mine is rock steady with 0ms jitter which means I am able to game a lot better then our lads even with speeds over a 100 Mbps especially when their providers use traffic shaping which most do (especially Virgin which sucks monkey balls BTW), Sky don't. Plus as an added bonus My phone package with Sky gives me free broadband and I can't find anything to match all of that.

So I guess it's down to a DVD using snail-mail...

@ Bernie, it's true, there's a lot of stuff in there that won't be spotted due to the pace of the video and lots of stuff like your product which only means anything to you but none of us will be watching it as many times as YOU! lol.

And yes, now that you mention it, I would like some storage units please

Rebel, you could send the files via WeTransfer.com since they let you send (up to) 2gb files for free (and no registrations or anything).
(Dusts a little & Hoovers away a few cobwebs...)

Sorry it's taken so long Bernie but here's the finished article:-

The audio could be a lot better but it was the best I could do with the differences in all the sound files that you sent me, getting them to sound anything alike was a nightmare!

You'd be better off clicking the following link rather the watching the Youtube one, it's better quality, 720 HD, only 38 MB and will even stand up to being watched full screened (should buffer in just a few minutes, depending on your connection!).

Not sure how I am going to get the original Full 1080 HD files to you, the mp4 is nearly half a Gig and the AVI is 1.35 Gig, would take me forever to upload them with my lowly 16 Mbs connection. If you're going to put them on your website then I would recommend using HTML5. The Audio in those is a hell of a lot better, I compressed the 720 one a lot and the audio suffered.

Link:-

http://www.wdnet.co.uk/Earl/Earl1280x720.html

YouTube:-

edited by Rebel on 04/08/2015

Earl looks great. I think he matches the voice. I was shooting for a lovable character but with a hint of an attitude. Kind of like a dialed down Joe Pesci. The cut off sleeves add to that..... What do you guys think about his little belly, would he be cooler if he was really fit? Either way I think frazzled "Earl" could have a bigger belly. Kind of a result of hitting the Squirrelweiser?
A couple of small bobbles in the recording. I think 2 minutes is probably just enough, your thoughts? If for any reason we feel it needs to be stretched to make it a better story I have another small point that could be made.
Yes we do have a warehouse but not a showroom. I will take a few still shots of our warehouse to see if the space looks appropriate.
All is appreciated!

The script is simple enough and the scenario is short and sweet, I figure it at just under 2 minutes but we can pad that out slightly.

I'll make a story board. I thought the first 5 sentences could be delivered by Earl in close up and when he says "Here's the story..." we show the different kinds of nuts, maybe small piles. Then we flash back to nuts everywhere!

Next, a short clip of him passing the garage with the totes in. Then his purchasing the totes at the counter of the Squirrel Mart maybe. After that, we see him in his pad with all the storage totes stacked up, note the desk amongst the stacks because that will have the computer on it that we will see him using next to surf the web and arrive at binwarehouse.com to make his order.

We then go to present day with Earl showing off his new units.

If you actually have a warehouse or a showroom then we could show Earl at work, if not then we could create a virtual one where he delivers the last line "Check us out at Bin Warehouse.com".

Looks like my message took too long to compose, try again.
1. Earl goes back first to when it was just nuts. When he goes back he can look rough, no cool hat, no necklace, couple of sprigs of hair sticking up, no logo on shirt dirty and stained, couple bottles of Squirrelweiser laying around?
2. Then he moves ahead to when he has totes but they are all stacked poorly, tipping over, can even crash? He has to deal with the bottom tote.
3. When he goes back the voice can have some re-verb for a distant effect?
4. Then he finishes up back in his organized space, happy as a clam.
Thought?

Welcome back Bernie. Haven't had the chance to tweak Earl as we were seeing to the tote box problem. I do have some more improvements planned for him.

The next major problem I see is the nuts, we will need a lot of nuts but as drewi knows, too many objects can cause problems so I have some smoke and mirrors in the works.

After that I can then work on the set itself as all we have so far are some of the props, I do have ideas for how the set should look and I will run them past you.

Guys,
Sorry for the delayed response, I have been travelling. I am blown away by the effort on this, you guys are awesome. You have totally taken this to a place where I could have never gone. I have to be honest, I am a very new to Muvizu so it is hard for me to collaborate. I had this idea as a mascot for our product for years. I will make my adjustments to the script and supply it and have to stand aside and watch you guys fly. I am obviously in the company of some very capable people. I love the plastic tote as well as the fold-a-totes because our systems do hold both. I see the detail and difference in the compact model verses 12 Tote original! In regard to the squirrels feet if there is a lot of effort there we can give him the sneakers back. Earl is already becoming a star and he hasn't even been in a movie yet. Please see attached a more current logo design.
Much appreciation!!!
https://www.dropbox.com/s/psldq0winq8te2p/Binwarehouse%20Storage%20Systems%20Logo%20HQ.png?dl=0

You really should try this. We have all been through the pain and without these techniques I would have given up with Muvizu long ago.

Here it is (sorry it's a bit technical)

I always add the ziggymesh.ase to all models before I import them to remove collision - this really assists with scene building.

I have automated this by doing the following :-

Create a text file : c:\windows\addmesh.bat (depending on you OS you may need to edit as administrator)
Put the following lines in it :-

for %%c in (.\*.ase) DO copy "%%c" nocollision
for %%d in (.\nocollision\*.ase) DO type "c:\ut3\ZiggyMesh.ase" >> "%%d"

Download the ZiggyMesh.ase from here - http://www.muvizu.com/3D/19330/Ziggys-Match-Box-Collision-Remover
Rename the ZMB(collision model).ase to ZiggyMesh.ase and stick it in c:\ut3

Every folder that I have models in I create a folder underneath it called NoCollision
I then start a DOS prompt and change directory to the folder with my models in.
As I add models or edit and export them again I just keep running AddMesh from my DOS window (Up arrow to repeat last command).

This ensures that all my .ase files in the nocollision folder are up to date and have the collision removed. Sorry... (But we are closer, I'll cover more on this later).

@everyone I haven't solved the problem but I do have a workaround solution although I don't really understand exactly why it works.

I remade bars for the frame again in SketchUp, making sure that the origin point was centred and removed the collision but to no avail, the boxes still jumped around.

Time to analyze the problem. They didn't jump around until they were placed into the racking. In order to make seamless joins, I made the vertical and the left to right horizontal tubes and removed the collision. For the centre support beam I used the Muvizu Cylinder (short) and that was causing the problems, the support area was too small, so I placed an invisible ground plane under the boxes and the tote boxes now slide in and out without a problem.

Note the right hand single box in the top picture below, on it's own it has no problems sliding in and out. Yet when I move the single front box on the floor only a short way, this causes the right hand box to fall off it's perch. That's the part that I don't understand, I would have thought that the distance was too great too cause such an effect!

Anyway, frame and boxes now work fine, thanks to everyone for all your help, tips and suggestions.

@drewi That fbx tote box is great, much better then the ase, can we have a lid now please! I'll work on the open Fold-A-Tote box and lid in SketchUp and then send you the image files, then maybe you could produce this in fbx too!

Rebel,
I tried a reply yesterday but it did not go through? I will finalize script and record as you suggested. Would like to show a Fold-A-Tote being folded and unfolded. As shown in video link attached. If I video just that action and maybe remove hands entirely to make it look as though it is happening by itself, is it possible to drop this in the set? Also can Earl slide a Tote into the system?
Drewi can you assist with making the squirrel look more squirrel like and some 3D nuts? Before mess of nuts and After organized set?

Please see link below:

Much thanks to you both for even taking the time to look at this!

Possible to take this correspondence to a private chat between the three of us?

I do live halfway across the world...

Never use text-to-speech, it sounds awful. When you find your voice actor, simply use a free programme such as Audacity

http://web.audacityteam.org/

You can change the pitch and tempo in effects, this is a quick example which literally took just two minutes.
Ok guys I used a text to voice program Balaboka to make this audio clip (see link below).
1. I need to refine the script but this will give you an idea of the direction I am trying to take.
2. I am sure we can create a much better, cooler squirrels voice than this like an Alvin the chipmunk type voice.
3. I would think we can get better results with a recorded voice that is then altered rather than text to speak, as you will see some of this is impossible to understand.
4. As Drewi said the squirrel can stand some work to make it look less like a dog converted into a squirrel. I would like to keep Earl around as our mascot, maybe even make him a sales rep. He can work on nuts for commision
I think with ability to create using this tool we can make something really interesting and catchy that will blow our other videos using people away or then divert people to our other videos.

Thanks again to you both for taking the time to look at this!!
I know how you both can get a Bin Warehouse as long as you don't live halfway across the world!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/r9flcllgc3xb7xv/earl1.wav?dl=0

I am a web designer and I also do graphic design, I don't really have any skills in 3D-Modelling other then the very basics, I prefer to use Muvizu objects where I can, as I feel that they are more suitable overall rather then being realistic.

I have very quickly put together a rough replication of your backdrop but obviously I have to make wide guesses as to the dimensions based only on a flat 2D backdrop!

As drewi said, your squirrel needs some work on him and he is more suited to that then I. It all depends on exactly what it is that you are trying to achieve.

Me too, i now have the set .i'm not sure if i can help but will try and contribute along with Rebel if he's ok about that..
the task does appear to be a little daunting not sure i have the skills.

i imagine converting the script to a storyboard is next ?
redoing the squirrels tail and creating some nuts and the storage system in 3d also will be necessary i'm thinking.
but it all depends on the script.

There are many ways to share files for free, the best known one is Dropbox, you can create an account and store up to 2GB for free. You can give other Dropbox account holders full read and write access to the files but even if they don't have a Dropbox account, they can still preview and download a copy, you just send or post a link.

https://www.dropbox.com

Hi Rebel,
Thanks for the reply. I am certain that someone who has experience working with Muvizu can create something much better than I. My focus is to create a really cute and funny way to bring our product features across to people. I have been unsuccessful uploading the work I have done on my set so far, what is the best way to share a set? I also have an audio file that I created using text to type software that needs to be adjusted some and then plugged in.
Please tell me the best way to share what I have done so far and Thanks!
