Great news, Jim!

After a frightening PC crash last night, I repaired my windows installation and reinstalled audio drivers.

The result - I can now make videos on Muvizu!

I think it's safe to stop poking the developers in the head (unless you really want to)

thanks again for your help...but at least if i get the same problem again, I should be able to work

out what I've added that has caused the problem.

all the best

Callum

Thanks David and Jim.
I'd prefer not to take any drastic action at this point and would prefer
to try a fix as the first course of action. Regarding the Timeline, I'll take a
look at that when I'm home later.
All the best,
Callum

Hi Callum/David,

We are trying to find out which piece of software is causing the conflict, so that we can create a fix that doesn't involve a new operating system - hopefully the devs will have their test software sorted soon.

As for the Timeline not working - is the green bar present after you load? If it's not drag the second diamond to the end of your video and everything should (hopefully) work as planned.

Take care,
-Jim.

Hi bonyman,

I have/had exactly the same problem as you with Windows XP.
The problem is still there but I've found a work-around which is not for the faint-of-heart.
I created a dual boot of Windows XP, this required a repartioning whilst not destroying the original XP installation. The new XP partition contains nothing other than XP, its updates and required video/audio card drivers.

Muvizu now works fine on the new XP partition but still give the same error as you have on the original partition. I too have Sony Vegas (8), and other video stuff, but didn't want to uninstall them to see if any of them were causing the problem as it would have been a pain to reinstall them all and all there plug-ins too. So I'll just live with the dual boot for now.

edited by davidbowman2001 on 9/27/2010
edited by davidbowman2001 on 9/27/2010

Thanks, Frendor. I'm pretty good with keeping all the updates done and have got rid of unwanted software. Will have a look at graphic drivers and codecs when I get time.

Now I have a new problem (unless I'm missing something) where I load the projects I have made, click on Tools/Timeline, press Play and nothing happens! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarghh!

Probably spent too much time in front of the PC.

time for a break.

cheers,

Callum

Hi Callum,

Sorry to see you're having problems.

What I would do in your position is to do a complete spring clean of the PC, get rid of any rouge programmes and remove all unwanted or unused software. Clean the registry and update everything, make sure you have the latest Windows updates, Direct x, Graphic drivers etc. etc. and scan for Malware/viruses. After that remove all of your video codecs reboot and reinstall a codec pack and finish of with a defrag.

If that doesn't help then at least you know you have a clean and fully updated PC.

If you need any help just say so, I have plenty of links and all the software is Free!

Frendor.

Hi again Callum,

Nothing obvious there I am afraid, one quick request though - could you please try making another movie - i.e. create a new set, spawn a character and record 1/2 random animations then make that video.

This will allow us to see if it's caused by something in the set or by a general incompatibility.

Take care,
-Jim.
edited by glasgowjim on 9/24/2010

Hi again Callum,

Guess we can rule out Sony Vegas then..... some users who have had problems with Muvizu saving files have had luck with uninstalling it and reinstalling it in a different directory - as long as you save your .set file your video should remain intact.

For example it is currently c:\Programme Files\Muvizu so please try c:\Muvizu as your destination folder during the installation.

Please let me know how you get on.

Take care,
-Jim.
