Claireq and barrys Two more grewat suggestions! As I am still working on the script with my voice-over lady, I have time, and certainly will see the new Muvizu, before I go for it.
What a great bunch of people live here.
Cheers
Tony
edited by tonethemoan on 11/1/2010

Another suggestion straight from the developers themselves is
Place the backdrops side by side so that it makes a big long sentence and animate a camera along the line creating the illusion of text scrolling in.

Tonethemoan...if you can wait just a few more days then the next version of Muvizu should contain a feature which will make life super-easy for you. I'm not promising anything but I've got an internal development build where it's working a treat. I'm cagey about making you a cast iron guarantee just in case it doesn't make it through our QA process.

Barry

Hi Emily, No shortage of software, I'm a sucker for it, so I will probably upload the AVI as you suggest. I may have to make the project in two halves and join them, as I will need to change the text half way through. I don't think it's possible to switch backdrops mid-stream.
You are really very helpful.
Tony

Hi Tony,

There are two main options here:

1. The method mentioned earlier. You could do it with a huge backdrop and tiny text size, with text along the bottom of the backdrop, then it would be, as you say, in a 'string' rather that a paragraph.

2. As you say, you could do it as an .avi file then import it into the backdrop as a video file, that's another option.

An alternative is to add the text in post production. You don't have to use fancy software, there are free options if you have a look around, and you may already have Windows Live Movie Maker installed on your computer. You can use text pretty easily with that.

Hope that helps!

Em.
edited by Emily on 11/1/2010

I really had the idea that the text would scroll in a string, rather than the whole paragraph. Am I thinking that I will need to create a movie file of scrolling text and import that onto the backdrop? If I opt to create a movie of the text, do you know off-hand, what format is the best to use please? But hey, thanks for your advice.
Tony

Good morning all, from the UK. I am planning a new Muvizu project, as the second in a series about the English language. I have played around with scrolling backdrops and wonder if it is possible to scroll text in that way? I want to illustrate "bad spelling" and grammar. The dialogue will demonstrate the grammar, with the voice-over, but it might be easier to acutally show the spelling. Obviously, most backdrop scrolling is based on a loop, but I wonder if I could produce some text and scroll that?
Ideas please, with my thanks.
Tony
