Hi again Matt,

When Windows starts up again do you get a "Windows has just recovered from a serious error........" message? If so there should be a bit for "Find Solution" or "Show Details" depending on the version of Windows that you have. (I can't remember how XP words it)

One possible solution is that with Windows XP it could be your graphics drivers have stopped working - it happens to me very occasionally on Windows 7 but it can recover from the driver failure. Could you please try updating your graphics drivers?

You can get the latest NVIDIA drivers from:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

One last question: have you played any other Unreal 3 engine games on your PC? (Unreal 3, Gears of War, Rainbow Six: Vegas, APB etc.)

Take care,
-Jim
edited by glasgowjim on 8/24/2010

Hey,

It's closing completely and opening again, rather than minimising.
No BSOD (blue screen of death), just lots of loud static-noise for a second, and then it simply stops.

On the whole my PC has always been very stable. I've not really had any other trouble that I can think of in terms of blue screens and stuff.

If it helps, I'm on XP 32bit with 2GB RAM, Q6600, & nVidia GPU.

Matt

Hi again,

Could I get some more info off of you please:

Do you get a blue screen or does your PC just stop working?
If you get a blue screen do you know what the .dll file mentioned on it is?
Is it Minimizing then expanding or closing completely then restarting Muvizu?

Take care,
-Jim.

Hi Matt,

The reason I suggested overheating is that is what happens if I use Muvizu on my laptop - 10-15 minutes of use then it crashes - unless I sit the corners under the screen on top of coasters (seriously).

It's happening when you minimize then reopen Muvizu? I know of that issue happening with other Unreal 3 engine programmes but I wasn't aware of it happening with Muvizu - I will talk to the devs about it.

Take care,
-Jim.

My PC is an ordinary big (fairly chuggy) one. I don't think overheating is the cause, to be honest. I've had no problems with overheating before, even when playing games and converting videos etc.

I've noticed that sometimes, if I've been making loads of textures and inporting them, Muvizu seems to be stable for hours and hours. Until I close it by accident and open it again... BOOM.

Matt

Hi Matt and John, sorry you are having trouble.

Generally when your whole PC crashes it's a problem with your hardware or drivers - do you remember what the BSOD error message was John?

Matt- your PC dying after 10-15 minutes of Muvizu use sounds like it could be overheating - is it a laptop or an ordinary desktop?

Take care,
-Jim

Hey all,

Muvizu keeps crashing my whole PC after 10-15 of minutes of use. The sound card suddenly outputs terribly loud static, and then my PC just restarts. It's rather frustraiting becuase I'm trying to get my comp entry done. I know that Muvizu's still in beta, so I can't really blame it for being touchy, but is there anything I can do to make the crashes less frequent? I lost a whole morning's work because it corrupted the .set file just after I had saved it.

Thanks for any input,
Matt
