Muvizu is a website and a 3D animation application. The Muvizu website is a place to meet fellow creatives and, using our site tools and downloadable 3D animation software, make your own movies or collaborate with Muvizu members on larger projects.
The website and 3D application allow you to upload your creations straight to YouTube. The website contains other tools to complement your creative efforts. There's forums and, to provide feedback, work you publish may be rated and commented on.
Meshmellow is the company that makes the Muvizu website and 3D animation software. Meshmellow is based at Suite 4.1, Station House, 34 St Enoch Square, Glasgow, G1 4DF UK.
Having an account with Muvizu.com allows you to participate in our forums, post comments on videos and collaborate on projects. Crucially, however, it also permits you to download Muvizu software.
Each user may upload and store a maximum of 2Gb of data (excluding video).
You must be at least 13 years old to join Muvizu as a full member with a regular account. However, if you are a teacher, drama group leader or similar and some of your charges are under 13, you may open a "gatekeeper" account.
This will allow you to set up subsidiary accounts for them which you will administer and over which you will have full visibility and control. These are invisible to anyone except members of your group or another gatekeeper group with which you have chosen to collaborate.
No. We’ll send out semi-regular emails that inform you about events on the website or changes to our software. We may also choose to tell you about competitions or other such things. The emails will have an ‘ unsubscribe’ button anyway. We will never give your private details to anyone else. Read our full privacy policy for details.
Muvizu:Play 3D software has been designed to allow anyone with a decent computer and graphics card to make animated videos without specialist training and equipment. It’s powered by the Muvizu Animation Engine which, in turn, is built upon the world-leading Unreal Engine 3 from Epic Games.
Detailed upgrade instructions are available here.
Yes. Feel free to experiment with the software and share/distribute your personal movies as you see fit.
By default Muvizu:Play creates videos with a subtle watermark. We think this is a reasonable thing to do, after all, we’re giving you a free licence to use our software. So long as this watermark is present in your final footage then we’re happy for you to create, share and publish as many animations as you like.
In fact, we’d rather hope that you do some excellent things with Muvizu:Play.
Yes, but you need to pay us to remove the watermark. Muvizu:Play has a watermark removal feature which lets you render out watermark-free videos in standard- or high-definition. Once you’ve paid for a Muvizu:Play+ licence then you’re free to use that footage in your commercial projects. Muvizu:Play+ is a paid version of our software that allows you unlimited watermark-free HD rendering.
No. You cannot remove, hide or obscure the Muvizu watermark in any way. The only valid way to remove the watermark is through the purchase of Muvizu:Play+.
Upgrade to Muvizu:Play+ for unlimited watermark removal.
By purchasing Muvizu:Play+ you are free to output unlimited watermark-free video in all of the formats available in Muvizu:Play plus 1920 x 1080.
Very secure. The entire transaction is handled by SagePay and we never see or store your Paypal, credit or debit card details. The transaction takes place over a secure internet connection.
You may be familiar with the padlock and “https” protocols when you buy goods online. We’re using exactly the same protocols to protect your transactions.
You can pay by any of these means: Visa credit card, Visa debit card, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express or PayPal.
The maximum animation you can render out of Muvizu:Play is 20 minutes long. The maximum size of any video file you can render is 2Gb. This is a huge amount and most codecs will never reach that ceiling. However, be very careful about selecting “uncompressed footage” from the rendering options. These files are HUGE and you’re at risk of reaching the 2Gb limit.
No. All credit card transactions are processed by Sage Pay. We do not have access to the details of your credit card or bank account.
Moreover, Muvizu or Meshmellow will never ask for your bank account details. If you receive such a request please let us know via contact@muvizu.com.
Yes you can, but Muvizu:Play is built on the Unreal Engine 3 made by Epic Games and, when we started this project, there was no Mac OS X version. A future Mac OS version of Muvizu:Play depends on a few hurdles, but it’s high on our to-do list.
For the time being, though, it's worth remembering that any Mac produced in the last few years uses Intel processors and, if it has adequate graphics capabilities, you may use Mac's Boot Camp to set up a PC partition on your machine on to which you may install and run Muvizu:Play.
You may also use a virtualised/emulated PC environment using software such as VMware Fusion or Parallels - however, performance via these will be slower, especially if you create complicated sets with many characters in a scene.
These terms describe the dimensions of videos produced by Muvizu:Play. The Make Video tool refers to “Frame size” and lists several options for defining the shape and size (in pixels) of your final animation. These may be grouped into two broad categories: standard-definition and high-definition. These are sometimes abbreviated to SD and HD.
Standard-definition video includes the following frame sizes: 720x576, 720x480, 640x360, 640x480, 480x360. Accordingly, high-definition video is 1280x720 pixels in size. Muvizu Play+ can render at an even higher definition of 1920x1080
Standard-definition video is useful for test renders, online placement and small file sizes. High-defintion video should be used if you’re striving for quality, clarity and broadcast-ready footage.
