On a couple of my sets in the avi file after rendering, suddenly I have a horizontal, black line that is a couple of millimeters thick and is flickering at top of the monitor screen ....
It's a bit distracting and makes all the hard work look totally unprofessional...any ideas as to why I might be having this flickering black line at the top of my screen? It doesn't show before the rendering only after......I'm using the following setting when I render:
- output type = Video
- Codec = Logitech Video (1420) (i420)
- Anti-aliasing is checked
- Frame size = 1920 x 1080
I haven't had this issue when rendering scenes before and now it is creeping in.......
appreciation in advance,
.cn

My guess is that the codec is causing the problems. Have you tried rendering uncompressed?

Been there, had that - it's not codecs or file types, it's the latest nvidia drivers. Remove all your video drivers and let windows download it's default version, that will cure it (353.06 is what my Windows 7 is currently using without any problems).

So if it's a nvidia driver issue - does that mean I'm the only one that is going to see the "flickering black lines" because its affecting my monitor OR did those black lines become "baked" into the rendered video as well?
Not sure if that makes sense...
thanks,

I would assume it's baked in; but you can always upload it to youtube privately and watch it there. If the lines are there it's baked in, if not then it's just the drivers on your pc. Either way you should probably follow Ziggy's instructions about removing them to make sure it's solved.

Hmmmmmm. I am now rendering my output using TGA (avoids the codec issue - correct?) AND I deleted my NVidia driver i.e. the drivers for the "Display Adapters" (scared the snot out of me) allowing Windows to update with the latest/greatest.
As a follow-up, I clicked to update the driver with a dialog that says I have the latest:
Driver Provider: NVIDIA
Driver Date 11/5/2015
Driver Version 10.18.13.5891
I even restarted/rebooted my PC...
The black lines are STILL there :0(.....
Any other suggestions?
thank you,

Sounds like a question for support really. You could try outputting as mp4 to see if that helps.

How do you output as mp4? What version of Muvizu is that?

The most recent version 2016.02.24.01R
There should be an option where you usually choose avi or targa.

Now that I finished the MZU project I was working on (& now on to the next!)..I'd thought I'd share what happened when I contacted support..

Apparently it was the way I was using the DOF (Depth of Field) camera - that was causing the "black lines".

Once I turned DOF off - problem was solved.

Bummer is that I really love DOF - any suggestions would still be very appreciated.

thanks all,

I recently tried reinstalling the latest nvidia drivers (to see if the situation had improved) and the black lines came back. Uninstalled the drivers, let windows download it's own nvidia driver, and the lines are gone. I use DOF on everything, always have, and I can assure you this is a driver issue.
