Moving water like in the Chinese History pack? @braj we dont think you are asking for too much. as MrDrWho says all these things have been requested and a whole lot more on numerous occasions. sometimes you get lucky and an idea will get put into muvizu. they have a to do list a billion miles long of things that we have begged for over the years. so keep on asking away. you never know what will happen.

just fixing the software is their main priority at the moment i imagine. its all gone very quiet on the muvizu HQ front but it does that all the time... so nothing new there.

Ah! I figured that must be possible, but I couldn't figure out how to name the two components... so I've been making more complex collision geometry as a separate file, then manually editing the ASE file to add the collision at the end. Doing it that way does take longer, and I like your idea, so I'm now off to see if I can figure out how to do it your way....

Thanks once again for sharing your knowledge!

put a cross on the bottom and set your axis, click create. plus the cross makes it easier to move onto the origin point.

Oooookay..... I finally get what you're saying. I am using a different version of the ASE exporter in Sketchup 2015.

I tried to install the one from here: http://rodneyandberty.com/downloads/
but it errs out as soon as Sketchup 2015 loads.

I'm using one that was adapted by Jamie for Muvizu. It can be found here:
http://www.muvizu.com/download/muvizuaseexporter.rb

Apparently the difference is in the collision. I'll change my WIKI to reflect this.

You got me excited here Fazz - but I don't think this works.

lol yes you are correct Big Grin well it should work... so sort it out muvizu. drag and drop from one program to another would be nice

None of my avi texture files work any more your avi's work in my muvizu

could just be a codec problem your end? i know most people here use the k-lite codec pack but me personally have never been able to get the avi's from that to work in muvizu so i use the xvid video codec http://xvid-codec.en.softonic.com/

but avi sucks anyway. its a shame we cant use mp4.

...like videos? unfortunately when youtube decided to change things again (dunno what they changed but they did) all ability to comment and like here at the muvizu gallery was lost. just click on the youtube icon on the player and comment or like or whatever over at youtube instead.

Character color in attachments? if you use an fbx file attachment, you can play around with the specular colour to try and blend in the characters shininess which does help a bit. and with a bit of fancy texturing of shadows that helps too.

saved favourites won't reload older sets should load in newer versions. its only when you save a set in a newer version then try and open the set in an older version that you would get that error. it might be worth sending those files to support to see whats the matter.

saved favourites won't reload that unknown format error usually appears when something is trying to load from a different version of muvizu. ie sets are not backward compatible. but as you've loaded the sets ok and saved the characters it shouldnt really do that so i dunno?
what sets did you use?

Moving custom characters to new computer theotherguy wrote:
I can find none of these folders C:\Users\All Users\Muvizu\Favourites or anything like them, also no sign of any .FAV file types on my Windows 10 64bit computer.

The closest I came to it is program files/muvizu play/muvizu game/content/packages which contain files called .upk i.e. at_beefyz-hats.upk

I'm no further ahead for a quick and easy solution to moving my favourites from one computer to another, but I've figured out a work-around which will have to do.

it is there on windows 10

type .fav in the search box, it should only take a few seconds. it will show as a favourites folder in the list. right click on that and click on open folder location

Moving custom characters to new computer ok. just load all the characters up in a blank scene. click on file up in the corner of muvizu. click on save as.... name the set whatever you want and save. now to transfer from one computer to another... use a usb flash drive, or if you have a dropbox account or some sort of file saving thing online, upload it there and download onto your new computer. or save it in an email as an attachment and download from that. theres many ways to transfer. i prefer the dropbox because it will save onto your new computer and you just have to drag and drop it where ever you want.

Moving custom characters to new computer ok. yeah the only way is the saved set way to get from one computer to another. so yep just put them all on a set and load that into your new computer and save them in muvizu. and keep the set safe somewhere as backup. also its good practice to save any new characters in their own set too.

I know that the custom characters come with the project file, but they don't show up in the library. Any idea how I would do that?

im not quite sure what that means? do you want them to show in your favourites? when i installed onto a new computer i had saved all the characters i had made onto a single set. then saved them in favourites on my new pc. plus its good to have the set as a backup if things go wrong somewhere down the line.

Is this possible...? or.... lol.... build him a walkway of invisible ground planes to walk/blob on.

Is this possible...? unless you had a really small ground plane under the character to lift him off the ground. but animating the ground plane to move with the character might be a bit difficult but not impossible. although with keyframes it could possibly be easier? dunno never tried lol
2015/12/31 0:32:18
Is this possible...? no. as soon as you add attachments they lose all collision with the ground. for instance if you made a set of stilts for a character the stilts would attach to the body at the foot but the character would still walk as normal with the stilts under the ground.
