Muvizu Play 1.2 Feedback (also Play+) Jamie wrote:
The 2GB limit is a result of the AVI 1.0 video format Muvizu outputs. It's not specific to resolution (try rendering a 640x480 uncompressed video for 20 mins and you'll hit that 2GB file limit as well).

There's 3 work arounds to the limit that you can use though -

1. Render out up to 2GB (20 seconds per file or where ever you find that limit) and stitch them together in a video editor. Not Ideal.
2. Use a compression codec, Lagarith gives good results but eventually you'll hit that limit again. Not Ideal.
3. Render out a Targa Sequence. This will generate each frame as a single image file and means you'll never have an AVI file from Muvizu to hit any limit. You can open the Targa sequence in most video editors and then render a AVI (or any format video) from them. You also get a wav file for your audio output. This would be the ideal way of working.

Thanks for the reply Jamie.

1. Can't do number one because, yes you could stitch each tiny segment together, but only if the characters don't move between renders and you can only ensure that by setting them to Don't Breathe, but the breathing option doesn't work (still).

2. Tried that one before, then got COM surrogate error messages every single time Windows accessed the folder where the vids where. Never again!

3. My only option it seems - messy, as you'll end up with thousands of images to manage, but I'll go with it anyway. The audio isn't a problem as I never use the audio output from Muvizu anyway.

One thought though - AVI 2.0? Is there some reason you can't update the engine to output version 2 AVIs instead? It's Direct Show compatible, and can (theoretically) output up to 18 billion Gb (which would just about be enough for me, I think )

Muvizu Play 1.2 Feedback (also Play+) Hmm, I take it back - you aren't limited to 30 seconds on 1080 output, it's more like 20 seconds and then you hit 2gb. That's a shame, as such a harsh limitation makes it impractical for, well, anything much. Be sticking with 720 for the moment until someone figures out how to make it work.

Video Codecs Did you install the 32bit version of the k-lite pack before the 64bit version? Some people insist it makes no difference, but all I can say is my codecs work without issues if I do them in that order.

"Unable to load Muvizu.dll (Exception 0x8007007E) I think it's the .NET or the Visual C installer - or you're using Windows 8, in which case it won't run regardless. If you're not using W8, then downloading and installing the .NET and Visual C installers from Microsoft might fix it.

Muvizu Play 1.2 Feedback (also Play+) Was it the Lite version you downloaded, or the full one? The full one works (and damn does it work - been attaching textured bits onto a Darth Vader man character and he looks bleedin' awesome so far!). I know a 500mb download isn't for everyone, but if all else fails...

Muvizu Play 1.2 Feedback (also Play+) Oh yes. Loads the sets I had troubles with no bother, and the other little touches are very appreciated ('switch to Direct' - see, it makes so much more sense that way!). One persistent problem remains (a feature I use a lot, which is why I keep harping on about it) and that is the "Don't Breathe" character option seems to mean 'ignore that and keep breathing anyway'. And assuming it did work, shouldn't that be the default option for the robot characters anyway?

One issue I have with Play+ is that, while it's great to be able to output 1080 video, the 2gb limit remains which limits us to 30 seconds of uncompressed video at a time. I can work around that, sure, but isn't there something we can do to create larger vids without having to resort to this? I know larger media files play on PC, I have a few 4 and 5 gig films that play just fine, so it must be possible somehow...

Anyway, great update for all manner of reasons

Inspired by Muvizu Desings. He's right, Comic Sans is overused and doesn't do your project any favours. Otherwise, the characters are quite appealing, yes. One question though - what's Newgrounds? I could go searching for it of course, but y'know, I'm busy and all...

Coming Soon... There's a disturbance in the Force, like a thousand voices crying out for more Star Wars influenced Muvizu stupidity...

Can't open after install content packs Also, check your versions - the content packs are intended for use with the latest version of Muvizu. Installing them into an older version will cause problems - like crashes

Import object button missing? First thing's first - have you watched the tutorial on importing objects?

http://www.muvizu.com/Video/12838/Importing-from-Sketchup-Part-1

Your objects have to be in ASE format to begin with. If you don't know what that means, then you really need to watch the tutorial.

A question of scale? According to my own (Sketchup) experience, the Law Of Bigness in Muvizu runs along these lines : All individual ASE imports must be less than 30 metres (3000 cm, 1180 inches, or 98 feet) on it's longest side in Sketchup or else you can't import it from any starting point without clipping the dome and getting that damn message.

I also remove most of the collision volume, which probably helps too. I scale everything in SU to twice actual (real world) size to avoid 'object too small' messages (does that still happen now?) and generally everything is right-ish with the characters at default scale with scope to resize either way. Hope some of this helps

New character? You can't change the shape of the characters, or the preset animations, so it'd be hard to do. The stick man character is most plant like, but you couldn't add leaves to his arms, for example, to make him more weedy. This kind of stuff is in the pipeline for Muvizu, but not for while yet I think.

MGVS2 - Universal retro gaming system Wow, that is taking retro seriously, and smart too - the controller dictates the games it'll emulate. Genius that is. Good find DW13

System Requirements Your card is Shader model 5, no problems there. You do not need to be online at any time when using Muvizu, unless you want to pay to render out a logo free shot. Chill

Texture issue while importing .ASE klownzilla wrote:
The .mtl file has the 3 different textures. Why does Muvizu only use one of the textures?

Muvizu doesn't use .mtl files, only the actual texture images (.png, .jpg, etc).

Camera Cuts urbanlamb wrote:
"okay that is the prepare button that means I am in direct" it means something. I bet others are doing it as well just not saying anything about it.

Yup, that's what I do without thinking, because I'm so used to it, but it doesn't make sense - prefacing the direct/prepare button with 'switch to' would make it clearer.

And, since this is a topic about Camera Cuts (remember that? ) I'd like to ask, again, for the working (recording) camera to be selectable by right clicking on the cameras window and selecting it - having to pull up the timeline, find the camera cuts line, then right click/select the working camera is slow and also counter intuitive - the cameras are right there, in the cameras window, right in front of you!! Even a check box next to the camera to select it - anything would be better than the current system (which is a proven source of frustration for newbs as they try to find the bit to change cameras without success).
