Wizaerd if you dont like help then why did you ask for it? Emily was simply trying to help us to learn more about the available options on youtube ...

Where exactly did I say I didn't like the help? I was merely posting my own results using these options, and expressed an opinion that I liked the crop option the best. Stop reading insults where there are none, this is the second posting of mine you've done this on.

YouTube Tips & Tricks Thanx for this Emily... I used the yt:crop=16:9 on my two Muvizu videos, and it works like a champ. And I don't notice any "cropping" out of anything within the frame, it's shows exactly as I would want it to. I tried the yt:stretch=16:9 option first, but the results weren't appealing at all. Don't remember what it was, but I know the cropped option worked best for me.

Layered Animations while moving I didn't get an opportunity to try this last night (epic night of TV on SyFy... heh heh heh), but is there an order of preference? Since the order of menu options has Character Animations above Character Movement, am I correct in assuming it's better to do the animations pass first, then the movement pass? Or can I do the Movement pass first, then as I go through the animation pass, watching where he's going, I can add animations, head movments, eye movements, turn on/off lip movments, etc... at specific spots along his movment pass?

I kno there's been a lot of suggestions, many of which are repeated a great number of times (interactive props, mutiple audio/dialog file, waypoints, etc..) all of which I completely agree with.

But another thing I'd for sure like to see, would be being able to do upper torso, arm, head movements/animations, and dialog at the same time the character is walking.

You can.

Just direct the character actions as normal them direct the character movement and the little fellah will waggle his hands around merrily as he traverses the set.

I thought I had seen in the tutorials that an actors movement will overwrite or wipe out animations?

(lemme go look...)

Yup, Tutorial 16: Character Movement talks about this very thing. Now granted, this tutorial is from August 2010, and possibly has changed since then... I suppose I will have to give it a try.

I went back and watched the tutorial again, and it's obviously out dated because the character animations and movements are indeed in the same "pass", whereas the program I used over the weekend, I believe they were separate passes. I dont have access to it from work, so I dont know for sure, but I think that's the case.

I made my movies with the tutorial in mind... argh, I could made it better with gestures while wlaking... oh well, something to keep in mind for my next movie...

Hi Wizaerd,

I think ziggy is right. If you convert it to XVid it should work, however you might also want to reduce the size of the video and strip out any audio as imported videos only play as videos. If you reduce the size it should also help to improve the perforamnce of Muvizu if your system is a little slower.

Good luck!

Thanx for this guys... as it turns out, I wnet a different route on this... If I do need to do this again in the future though, to prevent having to import the AVI, I may just greenscreen it.

Yup, seen 'em. Lots and lots of times, it's how I was able to get some different objects imported. I've even did the collission mesh over the weekend.

Hi Wizaerd,

If you want to share objects you've created just go to the Upload link below the search box on here and select "3D Asset" you will need to zip it up and provide a preview image but once you've done that and uploaded it then anyone can download it from here (provided you make it public )

Also the specularity seems to be related to Sketchup objects specifically. I had some ASE files made in 3D max studio that didn't have this problem. I'll take a closer look into it.

Is there a preferred format? Since I cannot export it as a Muvizu object, I assume an ASE is aacceptable? And the user would just color it as they want? (since there's no texture or color cotrol in the ASE model)

If you want to remove the black border from your video go to YouTube and find your video, then go to 'Edit Video Detail' - then in the tags box add either "yt:stretch=16:9" or "yt:crop=16:9.

Cheers,

Em.

Thanx for the tip on the YouTube tag... Never knew that before...

Thanx to everyone else, for your kind words. It'll probably be a week or so until I can start thinking about my next movie, which I hope will be a bit more elaborate. Gotta get a better handle on controlling movement, actions, and camera movements.

2 New videos, from a Muvizu Beginner Last night I finished my first ever Muvizu video, but I had posted it directly to YouTube, so it won't show up here. I did post in a different forum, but since this one is specifically for user movies I'll report it here.

Also, I finished another one today, so I'll provide that link too. Enjoy!

Yes. I've done that but it's a pain. Would like to not do that sometime in the future. Floating characters would not only be easier but open up lots of new possibilities like flying Superhero characters, Angels, walking on walls, etc..

I completely agree.

Imported Objects - Odd Specularity I created a simple object in Sketchup and exported it, and when I import it into Muvizu, and assign the colors, there's an odd specularity to it. Any idea what causes this, or how I can get rid of it?

http://www.wizaerd.com/hold/OddReflection.png

BTW, I love the whole import idea... if I were to make an object that others might want, how can I distribute it> As a sketchup file, an ASE file, or is there a way to upload it to the available 3D asset section here?

And finally, it's not possible to add an imported objects to the Favorites in the object browser?

Animated TV Set I have an AVI which I want to play on the TV set. When I import it though, it doesn't play. I tried setting it's initial state in the object preparation to a black color, then while directing, switching it to the AVI, but it never appears. I also tried just importing it to the object without any object direction, and it doesn;t play. SO what could I be missing?

Actually I could make a list of suggestions a mile long(or is it kilometer for most of you here? yes, I'm a yank)

But anyway since Muvizu already has object float in the air I'm hoping adding that to characters would be easy? Sure would help compared to coming up with things them to stand on when we need the character in at a certain height.

A ground plane, with a transparent texture. Put the character on the plane, then raise the plane (being sure to set the floating property on it)

Uploaded to YouTube, but how do I do so here too? It was fun to make, but in a way, it was kinda painful as well. All those flaming effects lagged my system (to be expected tho, it was a lot of flames) and with the multiple passes I had to keep listening to the bad dialog over, and over, and over... I shoulda re-done it, but I was getting pretty tired.

I wonder, if I had done my all my directing passes with the flames off, then before I actually rendered it, turned them on, would that have worked? Hmmmmm, something to try...

It's too bad I uploaded it externally, but it's just so easy and convienent to do it after post processing in my editor.

Uploaded to YouTube, but how do I do so here too? I have updated my first Muvizu video to my YouTube account (my video editor does it automagically), so I'm not sure how to make it available here too. The upload link uploads it to YouTube, and I don;t want it duplicated there.

Anyhoo, the dialog is terrible and I could use some additional sound affects, but it was my first real attempt.

Changing Moods RightURKen wrote:

It's not supposed to be that way, incidentally. The previous versions did adopt the new emotion in the Prepare screen, I suspect that they don't in this release is a bug.

A bug? Am I understanding you right? This new way is an improvement , not a bug. It gives the user a way to control emotions no matter the action.

For example before the characters would always look angry when using a fight action. But for my current project I need to have a character to look scared while fighting. I can do that now. It's perfect.

Actually, no, it doesn;t work that way. It only behaves in the Prepare screens. But when you actually direct, the modd does change.
2011/7/9 16:26:06
Changing Moods Sure enough, that is how it is. I hadn't actually gottent to Directing yet, because I was still experimenting with the Character Preparation first. I shoulda tried the whole process before formulating questions. Sorry 'bout that, and Thank you.
