Can anyone help here...whenever I import a model that has transparent sections..ie glass etc the whole of the model goes transparent at certain angles. What is the correct way to import something into muvizu with transparency?

The settings I use to import are Don't use id tex, alpha to opacity, has ao and single sided....the textures are targa files with just the bits I want transparent...er transparent, the rest are opaque.

Hi Dylly,

The options you are using sound Ok. If you put a non-transparent texture on it does it work? The texture itself shouldn't make any difference, and it sounds more like the normals on some triangles being the wrong way round. If that's the case, making it double sided would probably solve the problem.

Hi thanks for getting back so quickly. I've tried importing it in all different ways. If I import just as a straight texture everything is visible. I've gone back and checked all the normals. But whenever I add alpha to transparency on any model, its as though some of the normals have been turned the wrong way around. Totally stumped I it has. Here's one of the models should anyone fancy having a play around with it. Its a window...of sorts!

I think you are doing everything correct Dylly. There is a problem with transparent textures in Muvizu (even if you look at the patio door object or the flask / jars in the Science category you'll see issues). What I've done in the past to do window glass is to create 1 object that is the glass pane, with a tiny collision mesh some way away from the visible part of it, and place it inside of a separate window frame. This way you avoid these transparency issues. It's not ideal but for this situation it will work, other situations it might not work so well.
