I want some advise about recording voices.

Looking at several created animations people made, they all let characters speak to each other.
I once used a "text to speech" program, but i'm not satisfied with this.

How or what is the method to record voices, silly voices etc?
And then i mean, the kind of technic (software, hardware) to record them.
How do you, Muvizu animators, do this?
Using some kind of special software, a mixer perhaps?

Any advice is appreciated.

Posts: 225 		There are a number of programs out there to manipulate sound.
I use Audacity, which is a bit technical - that is to say you can get a whole bunch of filters but you probably need to experiment or use google to get what you're after (but it is free!)
Easiest thing is to adjust the pitch and speed - you can get something quite different just using that.

Audacity is only hepling me partly, it's the software part.
I'm also interessted in the hardware part.
Just connect a micophone into my computer is not give me a sound that satisfied me.
Are there better ways?
I would like to know how other record their voices.

Posts: 1786 		its hard to give info on everything but for sound you do need a good mic and sometimes you need a better sound card as well. A cheap 5 dollar mic will not do the job if you actually are caring about sound.

This is the mic I use plus I do voice over recordings with a bunch of insulation and my head in a closet to remove any echo from the room and to get away from the hum of my pc and any other electronic devices

There is a pro blue yeti as well but from what I have heard it has compatibility issues with windows and stops responding over time. This mic is pretty good although it doesnt like the base in my voice but for my personal use its fine. If I raise my voice I do cause the microphone to have distortion so I have to be careful. Not all mics work with all voices in this case blue yeti definatly doesnt like female voices with base in them it in fact hates it so I have to be very careful about how loud I talk into it but its better then a 5 dollar cheap mic which simply can't handle anything at all

I am satisfied with my blue yeti for the price it works great!

Posts: 4 		If you don't have agood mmicrophonr try using asmart phone with a high quality mp3 recorder then send to your computer audio software for tweaking

Then my conclusion is:

- a good microphone
- a place to record, without environmental noise
- software to edit the voices
- and enough friends who can produce the voices
