Hi Folks, just saying hi..........
Been using Muvizu now for about 2 weeks.....great software.....once you get your head round it.
Im a photographer to trade and also an experimental musician.

Sorry to jump straight in....but i have a problem.

When using Sketchup....i have sussed out how to get my models (very basic models...just blocks n stuff till i sort out the bugs) into Muvizu..........i have been applying photo textures which work well in sketchup....when i transfer over to muvizu the images on the models are all over the place? Ive had a look through the tutorials so im sure im doing everything as required...but there's obviously something amiss..........any ideas.

Cheers

Colin

sounds like they are not uvmapped i dont use sketchup but from what i understand uvmapping is an addon or something. Anyhow this is likely the step your missing.

heres some basic adding textures to sketchup models tips without using uv maps

it would help more if you had a screenshot of whats happening so we can see what the problem might be

There are also a wide range of SketchUp plugins to help with the texture process. The TGI 3D SU Amorph is a good one with a free version available however I much prefer Fredo's Thrupaint (bundled with many of his other brilliant plugins) which is FREE & available at www.sketchucation.com. Once you get the hang of textures and want to move on to the next stage then Roadkill is a useful freebie to UV map your exported .obj sketchup model. It's what I used before I moved onto 3ds Max & Maya. Once you have the hang of UV mapping you can start to get those all important ambient occlusion shadows onto your models as well as a variety of other kinds of map.

Texture painting is the bit I like the most.

hi folks, many thanks for your suggestions.
Got it sorted.......installed the uv mapping plugin to Sketchup........did a basic test (just a cube with some images on each side).....all good in Muvizu. Phew.

Ok...just now need to experiment with the mapping tools to make sure i can do more complex objects.

Cheers

glad you got it to work yeah we dont all use the same software but most of the problems are universal and looks like you got yourself a copy from the sale so your all set and good to go. Happy creating
