Glad you liked it!
I thought it would be a solution when you mentioned earlier about adjusting the window could hamper performance

It might be an idea for the actual cameras on set to only be shown if the relevant window tab is showing ie if cameras 1-4 are on page 1 you won't be able to see cameras 5-8 until you click on the tab for page 2 and when you do that then obviously cameras 1-4 would be hidden until you clicked back onto the tab for page 1. Otherwise the screen would be very crowded with say 12 cameras lying around.
Wotja think?

Hmmm... I dunno about hiding cameras when you can't see their viewport. That'll really confuse a lot of people. I was initially thinking of showing just a single viewport by default. If a camera is selected, it'll render that camera, otherwise it'll show the currently recording camera. I'd also include buttons and whatnot for locking the view to a particular camera. But this way, we're only ever rendering a single camera and I can't think of a reason why we'd need to limit the number of cameras at all.

Anywho, I'll chat with the other devs and see if we can come up with something.

Something else I just thought of - would it be possible to have the avatar picture on the the left here show an icon on it, or something like that, to let us know whether or not we're a fan of that person? The reason I ask is that I keep forgetting who I've already 'Become A Fan' of, and it would save me going and checking.

How about a voice that shouts "that's a wrap!"
And another that shouts "action!" when recording lol!

Both awesome suggestions, actually! I was just thinking of a simple alert, but yeah, those are better ideas - NEIL! Neil! Over here!

good one Neil. That would be a great sound to be heard when Muvizu goes into "program not responding" mode

Not only that, we could use the sound of Neil's teeth grinding as the login sound for certain members of the forum

New gripes! Been creating a set, and the same 3 problems keep bugging me ;

No smiles - I create a character, he's happy, he's smiling, great. I load the set up later on, and he's not smiling anymore - his state is still generally happy, but his mouth is now closed when idle, no teeth showing. It's a small point I know, but it's hard to get any consistency when the characters decide how they're feeling, not me. Wierdly, if you copy and paste the character (multiple times even), he'll come out showing various states of happiness, regardless of the Expressiveness level. Why?

Object Properties Box - You right click on something, and the object properties box appears...right on top of what you wanted to change, so now you cant see it and have to drag the properties box somewhere else. Over and over again. Every time. Annoying, but not half as annoying as...

Error - There was an error pasting the object.
Not enough room. Please try again in another location.

Okay, so I click OK and move over a bit and try pasting...
Error - There was an error pasting the object.
Okay, I click OK, move somewhere else...
Error - There was an error pasting the object.
But there's tons of space!!! I'm high up and everything. Try again...
Error - There was an error pasting the object.
AARRGGHH!!!! The fact it's so damn picky about where you paste things is bad enough, but do we REALLY have to click OK to acknowledge it every single time? Couldn't the error box just appear, then disappear after a second or two? I know there's not enough room, why do I have to tell the program I agree with it? Does Muvizu feel insecure? What I'm asking for is that the message not bring everything to a grinding halt until you click OK.

Apart from that, all's good!

I've got to admit, I've noticed and been baffled by this one as well. The idle smile is different every time, even on the same character.Goofus

Is that the Ziggphone going off again?

Ummm... I dunno why. I know it's something we're aware of. It'll probably be addressed when we look at facial animation, although I don't know when that will be either. Sorry.

Object Properties Box

Here's a question for you. Where would you like me to put it?

I can place the dialog box somewhere less obtrusive in the upcoming UI redesign.

This one bugs me too, and we keep discussing possible solutions but can never agree on anything. Ummmm... sorry again. Hopefully we'll settle on a proper fix sooner rather than later.

I like the idea of message boxes that disappear after a time, but it would have to be for longer than a couple of seconds. Probably more like 10, or even 30, and I suspect you wouldn't be happy with that.

Yes.

Neil, you should know by now that the Zigphone never sleeps! Anyroadup, thanks for the reply, and to reply to your reply...

No Smiles
I can get around the expression thing since I know it's there, I just wanted to know if anyone else knew it was there. I feel better now, thankyou.

Object Properties Box
Where would I like you to put it? Ooh, the cheek of it! I was thinking you could have it snap to the side of the screen furthest away from the object you selected, thereby giving you the most space to see it. It would work best in widescreen I guess, but really anywhere else except the centre of the screen would be an improvement.

Error Pasting Object
How about having an option to show a ghost preview in front of you of the thing you're about to paste, and have it turn red if it intersects anything that would prevent it from pasting? The preview doesn't have to be detailed or anything, just a box would do really (the collision one maybe?). And yes, it would make me chew through my monitor if I had to see the error message for any set length of time - I'm trying to work here!

And Muvizu obviously needs some psychotherapy - Tell me about your mother...

Error Pasting Object

<two pennies>

This is all part of a bigger issue - the "two objects can't be in the same place" dictact.

I would like to campaign for this to be turned off - it just serves no purpose that I can see yet causes the following:-

  • Can't paste new objects
  • Can't get irregular objects to snuggle up to each other
  • Increasing the size of an object destroys your set - even locked objects get pushed out of place (undo doesn't work)
  • Imported objects behave strangely - I suspect this is the root of the issue with imported objects just "wobbling" off the set

I would prefer to be able to set my objects to "float in the air" and then leave the responsibility of where they go and the logic behind it to the animator.

The "Can be stood on" checkbox only seems to apply to characters - can we at lease make it apply to objects as well please.

A lot of valid points there from Mr B!
I'm right behind this campaign. The hours that I've lost from having to wrestle with objects that have decided to "get jiggy with it" when they get too close to another object are to numerous and sad to mention.
I do remember seeing on the forum recently that object intersecting has a strong chance of being a new feature for us so this should solve a lot of your points
Fingers crossed.

Ukberty... I feel your pain

I seem to keep finding features I want removed, rather than added, but never mind - could we PLEASE have the option to turn off the camera look thing the view does when the object you're working with goes offscreen a bit. It's starting to drive me mad - I'm building sets for Dreeko using big walls, and trying to position them is an exercise in frustration because Muvizu tries to 'help' me see what I already know is there and don't care about. I can move the view around myself to track the objects, thanks all the same, it's no bother

Yes as Zig says hes creating sets for a hotel sketch for me to animate and voice. The script is by a forum member with great writing prowess who is also penning 'Back to the Führer'
Collaboration is where it's at people!
I'm also working with Mysto on garage band blues which is shaping up nicely!

Good things a coming!

Yes, there are good things a coming! I'm working on a few projects at the moment but I'd be glad to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. Just let me know. Collaboration is indeed a great thing!
