I am thinking of doing an animated comic book with Muvizu, and would like to know if there is a caption function, or some way of making captions.

You could try making pictures of captions and then using a backdrop to place them in the movie.

WozToons has a good solution there, make your caption in paint, gimp or photoshop and import the image as a texture for a backdrop (with gimp or photoshop you can also use transparency on your image so only the letters / words are shown.). Another option would be to import the image as a image over lay when you edit a camera and then place it on top of the scene your camera is looking at.

Another way to do it would be to use the Create > Words feature. It'll create 3D object letters for the words you type in and you can position them where you like in your scene.
