i understand that
http://www.muvizu.com/GetAssets style="color:rgb(43, 46, 47)"> are created and uploaded by users who are choosing to make these assets available for public non-commercial use.

however, even if one is making a muvizu animation for non-commercial use, one can not tell if down the road, a commercial opportunity comes up, such as entering a film festival, etc....

can't those who provide assets make it clear here and now, what they want, even if just a name credit, so that a headache can be avoided down the road?

credit me... dont credit me.... im really not that bothered. all assets i make and upload here i make for my own videos. if someone else has a use for them then thats all good. do i expect any financial reward for them now or in the future? nope (unless you want to bung me a few quid when you become famous Big Grin ) i enjoy making assets as much as i enjoy making muvizu animations, its all part of the fun for me.

i appreciate this comment, but why wait until i am famous for me to "bung" you "a few quid"? can i "bung" you a "few quid" now for small muvizu projects? your muvizu animations look more in-depth, more professional, than what muvizu itself has (or what other muvizu animators make). why is that?

the bung me a few quid was a joke like i said this is all fun for me, id love to spend all day doing nothing but muvizu but it will never pay my food bills or rent or put clothes on my back. theres not enough time in the day for me to do my own projects let alone other peoples. im more than happy to make the odd asset for someone if i have the time but im not going to do the whole muvizu process for someone. i do have a life away from muvizu animating and it keeps me more than busy. do my videos look more professional and in depth? i dont think so. i spend a lot of time getting things to look how i think they should look but i wouldnt say my videos look better than anyone elses, ive made some right old rubbish in the past. you get out of muvizu as much as you put into it and the more you use muvizu the better you will become at using it. im still learning how to use muvizu all the time to get the best out of it, theres always a new trick or something someone will come up with on this forum about how to do something and i think to myself " thats pretty cool i think i'll have a go at that" anyway ramble over i have a dog that needs walking as he is telling me by sitting on my feet and staring at me with sad eyes and crossed legs.

you can use mine however you like just please do not sell the assets commercial video, non commercial video whatevers. All I ask is that you use either my username or real name

http://muvizu.com/Profile/urbanlamb/Latest

the ones labelled ryzom are for non commercial use only however I converted them and the original terms are not mine. Since they allowed redistribution and muvizu is 'special' I repacked them for use in muvizu. I have others that one day I might do.. sitting half done from the ryzom asset 'dump'

In the info in the asset sections it used to say to contact the creator if its for commercial use so just contact the asset creator via the message system and ask for the most part I dont think any of us care if you make money from the video. Many of us do care if people download the assets and resell them though.

p.s. I no longer sell assets I used to but life was getting too complicated so I stopped. So I dont want any money nor will I allow anyone to give me any money as I hate what happens to people when they pay 50 cents for something

for crediting you, what is your real name?
i do not understand "the ones labelled ryzom" - is ryzom part of the title, so that one can easily see not to use these for commercial animation?

and any assets labelled muvizu can be used for commercial, right?

they have tags on them type ryzom in search I describe it in the info anyhow everything up there is for non commercial use and since I have not extended the license there is no need for me to go into further detail on any of them. You found the disclaimer on the page already placed there by muvizu. If you want info you contact people via the message system and ask them for further permissions.

Anyhow read the tags on the page and you will see however general rule of thumb is to contact people to get permission. I noticed you have done this already in some cases and the ryzom tag is clearly visable on the assets and since they are already non-commercial and I am not extending the license I have done what I need to do

I think that phrase is self explanatory I do not accept money or take fee for services because I have found that people do not want to pay what its worth in many cases. If i do something its in a different venue and I tend to do it via hard and fast contracts. Plainly put if i were to charge you probably could not afford me Big Grin

and I find the low ball offers made to be well insulting considering the work that goes into these things so I have opted out of doing work like this long long ago I stopped

I would like to suggest that you do the tutorials and start making a few animations yourself because I think we have answered all the questions we can. You have posted in the collaboration forum and contacted a few people via the message system. Its actually fairly difficult work to make a decent animation and create assets in all it takes many many hard hours of work. If something looks good its because the person has put a lot of effort into what they are doing. Some of us spend weeks and months on things and just do it for fun as we are like "old" and are doing it for self expression and not financial gain.

I would also have to agree that formalizing some sort of "rights" tag/section for the downloads would allow for more clarity and for everyone's rights to be respected more easily and frequently. Securing rights individually can be difficult/impossible when lots of different assets are used and modified the subsequently removed, then put back in, etc. As a content creator myself, I believe in paying your share for apps, media, software, etc and I actively preach this to all who will listen since I recognize the work that goes in. Please understand that our intentions are for everyone's rights to be respected, and that some type of structure will help the community grow which will benefit us all.
by the way urbanlamb your work is amazing!

looks like they removed the bit that had it as non commercial and contact the individual anyhow i will attach this license to my profile
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/deed.en_US

I dont care if you use it in commercial works but since i have ryzom stuff mixed in there which is only non commercial I will use this license. Previously their gallery specified that all assets/sets etc were for non commercial use only and if you wanted to use it commercially you had to contact the individual

Anyhow the gallery has recently changed but prior to the change in website they revamped the site and launched as muvizu play it was all labelled as non-commercial only and contact the user individually. Most of us dont care really as long as you dont sell the actual asset then most of us will care but I can't speak for everyone in this respect. I only consider that if i upload it here I can't police things and dont really want to if its in a gallery I am not gonna say or care what you do with it hehe it would be nice to have my name/username up there however for spambot reasons I tend to not post anything here and divert people to my message box :0

your welcome. I hope you dont think that we are being 'meany heads' simply there are only a few people who create assets and we want muvizu to remain fun and not turn into a chore. When it becomes a chore people tend to avoid said chore
